Gracie is adjusting really well to being a big sister. She has acted out a few times, but her outbursts are never directed at Katie--she has nothing but good, sweet feelings towards her little sis. Anyway, here is a video of them from September 26 (when Katie was 2 days old), and it shows just how good Gracie is with her. I think this is the start of a very beautiful friendship! :)

It's Gracie!
I feel guilty for not updating this blog in a while, so I went through the pictures from the last few months and found some of my favorites of Grace to post. She's such a sweet little girl and keeps us laughing every day! Here goes (these are in order from most recent to least recent--I'm too lazy to move them)!

She found her snow hat and had to try it on (in July, no less). For about 2 weeks after this picture was taken, she asked multiple times a day if we could go to the snow. We tried and tried to convince her that the snow was all melted. We finally compromised and told her that when we have a Christmas tree, then there will be snow and we will take her on a snow trip. :)

We went outside to get in the car one day and saw all these ducks crossing the street--Gracie was fascinated!
We both had to get blood tests done on the same day--no fun, but at least we had matching "owies". (Note: Gracie only thinks it's a bad owie if there's a band-aid on it--once we took her band-aid off, she was fine, but while it was on, she wouldn't use her arm at all!)

We are so in love with our big 3-year-old and can't imagine life without her! We can't wait to see how she'll welcome Katie into our home and what a big helper she becomes. Just yesterday, Dave was lamenting the fact that Gracie's "solo reign" at our house is almost over, but I think she'll still have control over our hearts no matter how many children we have. Thanks, Grace, for being the best "first child" we could've ever asked for. We love you!

Singin' in the Shower
This is a video (but really just audio) of Gracie singing a song from the Veggie Tales video entitled "King George and the Ducky." This is the song that Larry the Cucumber (portraying King George, of course) sings to a rubber duck (portraying "Ducky") in the bath. Naturally, after watching the video numerous times, Gracie must always sing this video in the bath. This morning I had taken her in the shower with me, so Dave recorded her singing the song because her camera-shyness kept us from preserving it any other way. It's hard to hear the words, so here is what she's saying:

COMPLETELY overworked!
I know they say our kids are over-scheduled these days, but this is just getting ridiculous!
Girls just wanna have fund$...
Last week I had the privilege of taking Gracie on her first shopping trip where she spent her own money! Grandma and Grandpa Nelson sent her $1 for Valentine's Day and another for Easter, so they've been burning a hole in her little blue jean purse ever since. They just opened a new party store in town, so we thought we'd go take a look there to see what we could see. (I didn't get any pictures during the shopping trip, unfortunately.)
The first thing we saw when we got there was the huge Dora the Explorer cardboard cutout in the front window, and that was enough for Gracie to be hooked! She was also very excited when we went down the birthday aisle and saw all the different themes available (like My Little Pony, Dora, Curious George, Cars, and of course, the Disney Princesses). The most exciting thing by far, though, was the candy section! They had big bags of candy as well as bins from which you could choose individual candies for about $.20 a piece. We decided that that is where her money would be best spent, so I told her to choose 4 pieces and then we headed for the checkout. We unzipped her purse and I told her to give the lady a dollar, which she did, and the lady was quite impressed. Then the lady tried to give Gracie her change back, but Grace reached right under the lady's hand and grabbed the bag of candy--no way was she gonna miss out on that! :)
We got home, and the first thing she did is run in to show Daddy her stash. (He was very impressed, of course.)
She got Junior Mints, a dark chocolate Hershey's, a sour rope, and a red sucker.
