New Word of the Week: We have quite a combination this week: "Hooray!" (who-way), snow (no), and Spongebob (bun-bob) are some of the favorites. I know there have been others, but I honestly can't think of them right now! Grace learned "Hooray" from one of her Baby Einstein DVD's in which they sing "If You're Happy and You Know It." The last verse says, "If you're happy and you know it, shout 'Hooray!'", so when they sing that Gracie throws both of her arms in the air and says, "who-way!" It's priceless.
"Spongebob" is one she learned last night, at the birthday party for Dave's younger brother James. They did a Spongebob Squarepants theme, and all the decorations and things were Spongebob. Gracie pointed to the odd-looking character and I said, "Spongebob," and she said, "Bun-bob!" Then she proceeded to walk through the house identifying all the Spongebob's she saw: on the tablecloth, on the plates, on the video tape, on the deck of cards, etc. It was cute. Here she is kissing Spongebob:
And, in related news, I now can say that I have helped decorate a Spongebob cake! Kristine (Dave's sister) and I are taking a cake decorating class, so Dave's mom had us make the birthday cake, which we did in a Spongebob theme. Kristine came up with most of the ideas, and then we decorated it together. I think it turned out quite well:
New Food of the Week (and Grace's reaction): This week's culinary adventure was.....(drumroll please).....frozen waffles! I know--exciting! Grace has had homemade waffles before, but one day this week I couldn't think of what to give her for breakfast, and then I opened my freezer and VOILA! Frozen (wheatgrain--somewhat healthy) waffles. Anyway, I toasted it and put a little bit of peanut butter on it, and she ate the whole thing. In case you didn't know, our little Gracie has quite an appetite. She almost eats more than me some days, and her nursery leader says she always does great at snacktime! :) We're not concerned that it's too much, though, 'cause she's not gaining too much weight, and she walks/runs all day long, so she's burning it all off.
New Injury of the Week: This week's boo-boo wasn't too bad. Dave had our game cabinet open and Gracie stuck her finger in just as he closed it. :( She only got pinched a little bit, thankfully, and it didn't leave a mark or anything.
New Skills/Tricks: She has started to do a fake laugh, and it's pretty entertaining. At the party last night, at one point all the adults were watching Gracie (ok, at several points they were all watching her!) and laughing at her antics. She caught on to this and started "laughing" so she could fit in with everyone else. This, in turn, made everyone else laugh, so it was a pretty funny cycle to watch.
Adventure of the Week: This week we took a snow trip with Dave's family! Gracie has only been in snow once before, and that was a year ago, when she was only 6 months old. She didn't like it then, and she still doesn't like it. Not one bit. (You'll notice she's not smiling in any of the pictures to follow.) We're not sure why she hates the snow so much, because she usually likes doing new things and being outdoors, but I'm sure in a couple years she'll love it. Anyway, we built snowmen and went sledding, and although the hike up to the hill was difficult, it was well worth it. Here are some pictures:

And, last but not least, here is a video of Dave and Gracie sledding. She was less than thrilled. ;)
