Grace Watch #7 (Mar. 10-16, 2008)

I know, I know. This is quite late for me to be posting this. For the past two days, I've been trying to write this post in my mind, and for the life of me, I can't think of much that Gracie did last week. I think it's because (1) she had a cold and maybe didn't do as many new things, and/or (2) I was getting over a cold, so maybe my stuffy head didn't commit to memory what she did. Who knows? Anyway, hopefully I'll remember as I write:

New Word of the Week: Not really sure. I remember thinking, "Oh, I'll have to remember that for Grace Watch" a couple of times, but that's it. Oh, but one word I was going to write about that she's been saying for a few weeks is "piano" (nano). Her Aunt Kristine has a miniature piano in her room, and every time we go to their house, that's the first place Gracie goes, so she can play the "nano." She even does the sign language for it (putting her hands down in front of her and wiggling her fingers), and it's adorable!

She really likes playing with Legos.

New Food of the Week (and Grace's reaction): Bird poop. No, really. We were playing in our backyard, and it was getting close to snack time for Gracie, so I was thinking I'd get her some saltines to eat. I thought, "Hmmm...saltines always break apart on the carpet when she eats them--maybe I'll bring some outside and she can eat them outside. Then I won't have to clean them up!" Soon after I thought this, she asked for some food, so I left her outside and went to get her some crackers. I came back about 30 seconds later and noticed her chewing something. I said, "Gracie, what are you eating?!" and she replied by saying, "Yucka" and sticking out her tongue, revealing little pieces of bird poop. I freaked out and grabbed a bunch of wipes and wiped her tongue, hands, and mouth, and then went around and wiped up every bit of bird poop I could find (there wasn't much, thankfully). So I guess she didn't technically ingest any of it, but I was pretty grossed out. :S

One morning she woke up with her ponytails like this! It makes
me think of a little doggie saying, "Huh?"

New Injury of the Week: On Saturday, the three of us were all ready to go out and run errands, and as Dave opened the door, Gracie walked right in the path of it and got a big bonk on the head! It was very sad, and about broke Dave's heart! Gracie recovered pretty fast, though, and she didn't have much of a mark from it. What a tough girl!

You can barely see her owie if you look on her
forehead, straight below her right ponytail.

New Skills: She can now blow her nose. :) A while back, when she was learning all her animal sounds, she saw some bunny figurines at Dave's parents' house (Nana collects bunnies), and we decided that bunnies sniff, rather than having a sound. So when we say, "What does a bunny say?" she responds by crinkling up her nose and sniffing. Well, when she had a cold last week, I was having a hard time getting all the "stuff" out of her nose, so I held the Kleenex up to her nose and said, "What does a bunny say?" and her sniffing helped her blow her nose. :)

Finally, Gracie was very excited to get to move up to a forward-facing carseat last week. She's so tiny that her backward-facing one still worked for us until recently, but last week we went ahead and got her a big girl carseat (which she still isn't technically big enough for, according to the height requirements!). She loves it sooo much! She likes being able to see where we're going, and anytime I tell her we're going bye-bye, she says, "Chair?" because she's very excited about sitting in her new "chair." Here's a picture of her in it:

Well, there was more than I thought! And thanks everyone for your comments on last week's post. I'm glad you enjoy reading about Gracie almost as much as I enjoy writing about her. You guys are awesome!
